升降貨梯http://www.weheartgrub.com/所用的馬達，要能承受極頻繁的啟動、停止和換向作用；能在重載下起動，就是要有較高的起動轉矩，以及較小的起動電流。對于這三個要求，直流馬達要比交流馬達來得合適一些，但是普通市內電源，都是三相交流的。如果要用直流馬達，必須裝有直流設備，改變交流為直流。

一般工廠內的升降貨梯，所用的馬達多數是交流三相感應型的，無論是鼠籠型或者滑圈型的都可。為了要有較高的起動轉矩，馬達的馬力，常比實際需要的馬力，約大三分之一左右，鼠籠型馬達，多用于低速，而滑圈型馬達，則用于速度較高的升降貨梯。 又有一種變速的交流感應馬達，是在同一定子槽內，埋放二套線圈這樣可以得到二種速率。在起動時，用高速線圈；需要減速時，可趁高速線圈仍接于電源時，將低速線圈亦接于電源，然后關斷高速線圈，將低速線圈的電阻，加以短接。這種變速的手續，亦可由定時繼電器來完成。
